Accordingly, personal attacks and false factual statements, such as 'a woman with full cheeks' or 'eating beans,' are likely to be punishable as defamation or insult under the Information and Communications Network Act.

Mr. Heo emphasized the importance of contextual evidence in criminal cases, noting that even if the case was settled in the past, new acts of insult can be prosecuted as a separate offense, and repetitive behavior can be reflected unfavorably in sentencing. He also noted the need for evidence collection and litigation strategies, such as obtaining a full transcript of the group conversation and pursuing a civil claim for alimony.
