Lee Sung-woo, a lawyer at Han Byul Law Firm, who handled the case, said, "Until now, the market has been saying, 'Why go through the trouble of getting a real estate license when you can make more money by setting up a real estate consulting company or doing consulting,' but this ruling will be a turning point." He added, "The market's practice of receiving an amount that exceeds the statutory commission of the Real Estate Agency Act by several times in the name of consulting should be improved."

"Consulting and brokerage are two completely different areas," said Lee Jong-hyuk, president of the Korea Association of Certified Real Estate Agents. "There are too many companies that have been doing brokerage business with the signboard of consulting. I hope that this ruling will increase the rights and interests of licensed brokers in Korea."
